Alejandro Co is a Cuban visual artist born on August 7, 1997, in Havana. At the age of twelve, he enrolled at the José A. Díaz Peláez Experimental Center, where he spent three years developing painting, sculpture, and printmaking techniques (2009–2012).

In 2013, he entered the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, choosing to specialize in engraving. Over the course of four years, he participated in various competitions, such as the tribute to Albrecht Durer at the Havana Graphic Arts Workshop, where he received the Edición award (2015), and the 3rd Belkis Ayón National Collagraphy Competition (2017). That same year, his thesis project was chosen by the director of the Havana Graphic Arts Workshop to be exhibited and defended as his first solo exhibition. “Culto a la ceniza” (2018), his second solo exhibition, marks the beginning of a research journey into how memory and archives, manipulated and reorganized, question the way in which narratives are legitimized. He participated in the project Detrás del muro (Behind the Wall) during the XIII Havana Biennial (2019). He was selected to exhibit at the 8th
Contemporary Art Salon at the Center for the Development of Visual Arts in Havana (2020).

In 2021, he enrolled at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) to study for a degree in visual arts, but subsequently paused his studies when he was chosen by the Antonio Gala Foundation to be part of its 21st Promotion of Young Creators (2022). Upon completing the residency, he moved to Madrid, where he held his first solo exhibition outside of Cuba, “Apariciones discretas”, at the NAVEL Contemporary Creation Center (2024). He currently lives and works in Madrid.
